Junior Courses


FIRST PERIOD

_____ SURVEY - Frs. Kelly & P. Geromel-  (REQUIRED for all 1st year students) A study of the basic aspects of Christian life including; the Bible, the Sacraments, Ten Commandments and Prayer.

_______ THE MASS – Fr. Murphy - (REQUIRED for all 2nd year students) What is the Mass? Why do we do what we do? How does it involve us? Knowing why and what will involve you in exciting ways.

______ CHURCH HISTORY – Fr. Cumming & Bp. Hewett - (REQUIRED for all 3rd year students) Christianity travels the world in 5 days!

______ THE BIBLE– Fr. Lutz – (REQUIRED for all 4th year students) The Bible is as relevant today as when it was written. What does the Bible consist of? Begin the journey through 4000 years of the quest of God for man and man for God.

_______ THE PSALMS – Fr. G. Geromel – The Book of Psalms in the Bible was the hymnal for worship in the temple, many of them written by King David, a great songster and poet. How can they help us worship God?

SECOND PERIOD

____ CHOIR – Mr. Glenn Perry & Fr. Sterne - Come and learn songs of the hymnal, liturgical chants and meditative pieces. A good voice is not as important as liking to sing.

______ PRAYER - Fr. Braddock - How to pray. Why we pray. When should you pray? Learn how to deepen your relationship with God, one prayer at a time.

 ______ ANTIQUITIES & CURIOSITIES—Fr. P. Geromel – Take a tour of old traditions and legends associated with the Anglican Church.

________ SIGNS & WONDERS – Mrs. Geromel – Jesus' followers and critics alike looked for miracles as proof that he was the Messiah. Were his "signs" only for this critical time in his life, or are miracles a common occurrence?

 
THIRD PERIOD

________ GOD, SEX, AND YOUR FAMILY - Mrs. Geromel – What do God, sex, and your family have in common? You’d be surprised! The River course is back!

________ ONE WHO SINGS PRAYS TWICE – Fr. Lutz -  A tour of the church year through music and its stories.

_______ LIVING THE BEAUTITUDES - Fr. Kelly – How can you be happy when you’re sad? How can it be good to suffer? How can you love your enemies? Jesus turns the world upside-down just for you.

_______ MYTHS OF THE CHURCH (part 4) - Mrs. Geromel - An overview of negative stories told about the church and why they are mostly not true. And some explanation for the tiny bits that are true.

 

SECOND PERIOD

________ FIVE APOSTLES - Fr. G. Geromel -They knew Christ, they served him, they lived with him for three years. Each is a great hero for the faith. Do you know them?

 _______ WHO DO YOU SAY THAT I AM? – Fr. Murphy – This is a mystery to all of us and people often feel that God has let them down when tragedy strikes. What does it mean? How do we cope?

 
THIRD PERIOD

________ THE PRECEPTS OF THE CHURCH - Fr. Sterne - (REQUIRED for all 1st year SENIORS) Gain a better understanding of the absolute minimum actions required of Anglicans regarding the Church. A Christian life requires a commitment to prayer and active participation in the liturgy and sacraments.

_______ APOLOGETICS– Bp. Hewett - (REQUIRED for all 2nd & 3rd year SENIORS) Learn how to defend your faith when someone attacks or challenges it.
