JUNIOR COURSES!

(for 6th graders up to 11th grade, with some exceptions)

​FIRST PERIOD


 SURVEY - Fr. Kelly - (REQUIRED for all 1st year students) A study of the basic aspects of Christian life including; the Bible, the Sacraments, Ten Commandments and Prayer.

THE MASS – Fr. Murphy - (REQUIRED for all 2nd year students) What is the Mass? Why do we do what we do? How does it involve us? Knowing why and what will involve you in exciting ways.

CHURCH HISTORY – Fr. P. Geromel - (REQUIRED for all 3rd year students) Christianity travels the world in 5 days!

THE BIBLE– Fr. Lutz – (REQUIRED for all 4th year students) The Bible is as relevant today as when it was written. What does the Bible consist of? Begin the journey through 4000 years of the quest of God for man and man for God.  

MEDITATION– Fr. G. Geromel – What is meditation? How can it bring you closer to God and make you a happier person? Learn from the saints of the past.


SECOND PERIOD

CHOIR – Mr. Glenn Perry & Fr. Sterne - Come and learn songs of the hymnal, liturgical chants and meditative pieces. A good voice is not as important as liking to sing.

 AND IT WAS DARK – Fr. Lutz – A trip through the Passion in all four gospels. And no, it won’t be morbid (but good drama, if you like drama!)

A WRINKLE IN TIME – Mrs. Geromel - What was Anglican (Episcopalian) Madeleine L’Engle trying to say in this book? How does the movie compare?

THE JOURNEYS OF ST. PAUL – Fr. Kelly – He started out as a persecutor of Christianity, but by the end of his life, he had traveled over 10,000 miles to share his faith in Jesus Christ. Can you do the same?

THIRD PERIOD

SCIENCE AND RELIGION— Mrs. Geromel – Evolution, cloning, did Jericho’s walls fall? Often, Christians are accused of attacking Science, but scientists, oddly enough, can’t see to keep their hands off religion…

LATIN FOR RANK BEGINNERS – Fr Murphy – A beginner’s guide to those funny words in church…aka Ecclesiastical Latin!

 THE FOURS – Frs. Geddings & LaDuc – Four Last Things, Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse, Four Gospels, the four living creatures… the number four is important in the Bible. What does that mean? What do they mean?​​

FIRST PERIOD

OLD DUSTY BOOKS NO LONGER MATTER - Mrs. Geromel – The Old Testament. What’s it good for? Who does it teach about? How is it important to Christians as well as Jews?

WINDOWS IN HEAVEN; CHAINS IN HELL – Fr. Braddock – Many people think ‘matter’ or ‘stuff’ is less holy than ‘spirit’. But God uses matter to woo us (as with the universe). Books, beads, knots, nature, food, oil, water, icons… and more…


SECOND PERIOD

ANGLICAN LITERATURE - Fr. P.Geromel– Dorothy Sayers, Jane Austin, The Bartchester Chronicles… and more. How has such literature benefited from and helped define the Anglican ethos?

WHY BE ANGLICAN? – Frs. Cumming & LaDuc – Things go better with Anglicanism. Why? The good fathers will blow your mind with the answer.


THIRD PERIOD

THE PRECEPTS OF THE CHURCH - Fr. Sterne - (REQUIRED for all 1st year SENIORS) Gain a better understanding of the absolute minimum actions required of Anglicans regarding the Church. A Christian life requires a commitment to prayer and active participation in the liturgy and sacraments.

THE BOOK OF COMMON PRAYER – Bp. Hewett - (REQUIRED for all 2nd & 3rd year SENIORS) What riches can you glean from this great heritage of our church? The prayers of the generations of the past can light your way to the future.

TEN PRACTICAL SPIRITUAL EXERCISES – Fr. G. Geromel – How to know the Will of God, how to obey it and many practical tips on how to live the Christian life.
